Tools & Methods
EDI-Net uses existing successful coordination approaches in the foreground and state of the art technical tools in the background (Big Data, APIs, internet based networking and community building) to provide a step change in the diagnosis and management by public authorities of the energy performance of public buildings and related financial resources.
The concept is based on the analysis of the increasingly readily available short time series metered energy and water data (typically hourly, half-hourly, or quarter-hourly). It combines information from smart meters and information from the users of many buildings to identify good and poor energy performance. It also compares the performance of the different building types to establish new benchmarks based on smart meter data.
The capacity building, beyond the necessary training and motivational promotion, comes from sharing not only the knowledge but also the experience amongst EU public authorities. This is done using the latest available internet based community building tools and gamification inspired technics.
